Downgrading a sponsorship

You can downgrade your sponsorship to a lower tier or cancel your sponsorship.

Note: Anyone with a GitHub account can become a sponsor. For sponsored developers, GitHub Sponsors is in limited beta and subject to change.

Downgrading a sponsorship

When you downgrade a sponsorship, the change will become effective on your next billing date. There are no refunds for payments for GitHub Sponsors.

  1. In the upper-right corner of any page, click your profile photo, then click Settings.

  2. In your user settings sidebar, click Billing.

  3. Under "Your subscriptions", to the right of "GitHub Sponsors" and a specific sponsored developer, click Edit, then click Change tier.

  4. On the right side of the page, next to your selected tier, click Edit.

  5. On the right side of the page, under "Select a tier", review the sponsorship tiers available. Then, to the right of the tier you want, click Select.

  6. Click Update sponsorship.

Canceling a sponsorship

When you cancel a sponsorship, the change will become effective on your next billing date. There are no refunds for payments for GitHub Sponsors.

  1. In the upper-right corner of any page, click your profile photo, then click Settings.

  2. In your user settings sidebar, click Billing.

  3. Under "Your subscriptions", to the right of "GitHub Sponsors" and a specific sponsored developer, click Edit, then click Cancel sponsorship.

  4. Review the information about canceling your sponsorship, then click OK.
