GitHub provides discounts to students, educators, educational institutions, nonprofits, and libraries.

Tip: Discounts do not apply to subscriptions for other paid products and features.

Discounts for personal accounts

GitHub provides free and discounted personal accounts with unlimited private repositories to students, teachers, researchers, and employees of educational institutions that grant credentials.

An academic discount for your personal account lasts two years, but you can renew your discount if you're affiliated with an educational institution when your coupon expires.

You can request a discount for your personal account on our education page.

Discounts for schools and universities

GitHub provides discounted and free Team plans for organizations to teachers, researchers, and employees of educational institutions that grant credentials. You can request a discount for your classroom, research, or other academic project on our education page.

Discounts for nonprofits and libraries

GitHub provides free Team plans for organizations with unlimited private repositories and unlimited users to qualifying 501(c)3 (or equivalent) organizations and libraries. You can request a discount for your organization on our nonprofit page.

If your organization is already on a paid plan, your organization's last transaction will be refunded once your nonprofit discount has been applied.
